International Congress on Intellectual Property as an Effective Means of Boosting the Competitive Edge of the National Economy opened on November 27, 2013 in the frames of the Intellectual Forum on Intellectual Property.
The participants of the congress discuss the issues concerning optimization of IP management, government support of innovations, development of a mechanism to transfer rights to scientific inventions, vested in the territory of the Russian Federation, to the representatives of private sector. Priority is put on building up an effective system of protection and commercialization of copyright to intellectual developments and ideas comprising those generated during demonstration at the exhibitions; combating counterfeit and intellectual piracy, making a model of a rapid introduction of the promising innovations into production.
In his opening speech at the congress Sergei Bednov, Director General of Expocentre, said that particular attention would be paid to the branch of law concerning IP issues. According to him Expocentre is the only exhibition organization in our country which provides exhibitors with consultations on IP issues, protection against counterfeit and issues certificates of demonstration of an exhibit or a trademark at the exhibition.
The speakers who made their reports at the conference such as Director General of the Federal Institute of Certification and Validation of Intellectual Property and Business, Deputy Chairman of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Boris Leontiev, Director Deputy of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Sergei Matveev, Chief Intellectual Property Officer of the International Chamber of Commerce, Daphne Yong-d'Hervé, Managing Director for Strategic Policy, Rostechnologii (Rostec) State Corporation Alexandr Kashirin, and others said about the necessity to develop an effective national innovation system for active and large-scale commercialization of the intellectual potential of the nation and stable development of high technology as IP products.
